Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

OnlineBooze.ca does not require accounts, does not sell anything, and does not ask you for personal information. The main privacy consideration on this site is affiliate tracking, and this page explains it plainly.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by Jean-Pierre Cloutier, based in Alberta, Canada. For any privacy question or request, email hello@onlinebooze.ca.

What we collect directly

Almost nothing. We have no sign-up, no newsletter, no comments and no contact form.

Affiliate tracking technologies

This is the part that matters. Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate network operating that link may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device to record that the visit came from us, so that any resulting purchase can be attributed for commission.

The networks whose links may appear on this site are:

Network Used for Their privacy policy
Impact (Impact Tech, Inc.)Instacart linksimpact.com privacy policy
Awin (Awin Ltd)Skip linksawin.com privacy policy
CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction LLC)WineOnline.ca linkscj.com privacy policy

What these technologies record. Typically your device and browser type, an anonymous identifier, the page you clicked from, the time of the click, and if you go on to buy something, the order value and time. They are used to attribute the sale and prevent fraud.

What we receive. Aggregate reporting only: numbers of clicks and completed orders. We are never given your name, address, email, payment details or what you bought as an individual.

Legal basis. Where consent is required for this processing, we rely on your consent, given by choosing to click an affiliate link after reading this notice. Where our legitimate interest in operating and funding an independent site is the applicable basis, we rely on that.

How to opt out

The simplest way is not to click affiliate links. The site works fully without them, and every service we cover can be reached by searching for it directly. Nothing is withheld from readers who avoid the links.

You can also:

Blocking these technologies costs you nothing and costs us only the commission. We would rather you knew than not.

Analytics

If we use analytics, it is limited to aggregate traffic measurement: which pages are read, roughly where readers come from, and which links are followed. We do not build profiles of individuals and we do not combine analytics data with anything else.

Data we do not do

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent.

Because we hold almost nothing about individual readers, most such requests are best directed at the affiliate network concerned, since they are the party that actually processes click and transaction data. Their policies are linked above. If you would like help identifying the right contact, email us and we will point you in the right direction.

Canadian readers may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

International transfers

The affiliate networks listed above are based in the United States and the United Kingdom, so data they collect when you click an affiliate link may be processed outside Canada under their own safeguards.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our affiliate partners change, and we will change the date at the top when we do. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.

Questions or corrections: hello@onlinebooze.ca. See also our affiliate disclosure.
