Alcohol delivery in Edmonton (2026): every option, compared

Edmonton has four third-party alcohol delivery apps (Instacart, DoorDash, Skip and Minibar) plus a dense network of private liquor stores, though not all of them deliver. App fees run roughly $3 to $9 with most orders arriving in 45 to 90 minutes. Ordering direct from a store that delivers is usually cheaper. Alberta's drinking age is 18.

Edmonton's real advantage: the independent stores
Edmonton has an unusually strong independent liquor retail scene, and the delivery apps show you only a fraction of it. That gap matters more here than in most cities.
Because Alberta's liquor market is fully private, every store buys from the same AGLC warehouse at the same wholesale price. Stores can't compete on cost, so they compete on curation, and Edmonton's specialists have built genuinely deep selections, particularly in craft beer and wine.
Independents worth knowing include Sherbrooke Liquor in the north, widely regarded as having one of Canada's best beer selections, Keg n Cork on the south side, and deVine Wines & Spirits downtown for wine and spirits depth.
Of those three, only Keg n Cork delivers. Sherbrooke and deVine are worth the trip for selection, but you will need to go in person. It is the practical catch in Edmonton: the best-stocked stores and the stores that will bring it to you are not the same list.
So if you want something specific, check whether the store delivers before building a basket on its website. If it does not, Minibar is the next place to look, since it surfaces inventory across several independents at once.
Edmonton coverage: where delivery actually reaches
App coverage is strongest in the central and south-central city. Downtown, Oliver, Old Strathcona and Whyte Avenue, Garneau, 124 Street and the mature neighbourhoods inside the Henday generally see every option and the shortest windows.
Coverage thins toward the edges: the far southwest around Windermere, the north past Castle Downs, and the newer southeast communities. Fees rise with distance and windows stretch. In those areas the nearest store's own delivery often beats an app on both counts.
In the surrounding region (St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan) app coverage varies considerably by address. Local stores are the more reliable route.
The rules in Edmonton
- Legal drinking age is 18. Alberta shares the lowest age in Canada with Manitoba and Quebec.
- ID is checked at the door, every time. No ID means no delivery, and generally no refund of the delivery fee.
- Retail hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Delivery follows the retailer's licensed hours, and most services stop earlier.
- Alcohol is never left unattended. Someone of legal age has to receive it in person.
- Drivers must refuse intoxicated recipients. A licence condition, not driver discretion.
- Couriers are certified. Drivers delivering alcohol in Alberta hold ProServe certification, and on some services the ID must match the name on the order.
Retailers deliver under an AGLC Class D Delivery Service Licence, and delivery by common carrier is also permitted.
Which should you use?
You need it within the hour: DoorDash, generally the most drivers active across Edmonton.
You're already ordering groceries: Instacart, where bundling makes the delivery fee effectively free.
You want craft beer or a specific bottle: Minibar to browse independent inventory, or a specialist store that delivers, such as Keg n Cork. Check delivery before you shop, because several of Edmonton's best-stocked independents are pickup only.
You're buying a lot, or you care about price: order direct. On a large order, skipping both the app fee and the in-app markup makes a real difference.
Festival season and other bad days to leave it late
Delivery windows stretch during Edmonton's summer festival calendar. Folk Fest and Fringe weekends, the Canada Day and August long weekends, K-Days, and New Year's Eve all generate more orders than there are drivers.
Deep winter creates a second, less obvious squeeze: at –30 °C, delivery times lengthen across the board and fewer drivers are working. Ordering earlier in the day is the practical fix in both cases.

Frequently asked
Can you get alcohol delivered on Sunday in Edmonton?
Yes. Alberta liquor stores may open seven days a week, and Sunday delivery runs on the same 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. window as any other day.
Can I get delivery to a hotel or an office?
Generally yes, provided someone of legal age is there to show ID and accept it in person. Some hotels route deliveries through the front desk.
What happens if nobody is home?
The delivery fails and is returned. Alcohol cannot be left at the door, and most services still charge the fee.
Does delivery reach St. Albert and Sherwood Park?
Sometimes, depending on the exact address and which stores are in range. Coverage is inconsistent, so check your postcode in the app before counting on it, or use a local store.
